Historical Walking Tour
Walking is an ideal way of getting closer to Samana,
its history and its present. After a short walk from
the pier you'll arrive at the Central Park, where
your knowledgeable guide will provide you with interesting
information about Samana's colourful past and culture.
Afterwards, you will begin the pleasant walk around
the town center. You will pass by the old tower clock
with its bell before you get to a Samana icon: La
Churcha. La Churcha was built in England where it
was unassembled and then reassembled piece by piece
by the first American freedmen who arrived in Samana
in the 1860s.
Your next stop will be the Coat of Arms
Park, with its memorial stone commemorating the foundation
of the City of Samana and surrounded by a code of
arms of each of the 30 provinces of the country. Back
in Central Park, a folkloric music group will delight
you while you enjoy a refreshing soft drink. Then
you will have some time for shopping, grab a bite
to eat or simply to enjoy Samana's wonderful bay view
before returning to the pier.
Note: Participants must be able to
walk without assistance.
